Fracture-separations of the Distal Tibial Epiphysis
نویسنده
چکیده
Three cases of a rare complication ofSalter Type II fracture-separations of the distal tibial epiphysis are described. Interposition of the anterior tibial neurovascular bundle between the displaced epiphysis and the lower tibia prevented reduction and, in two patients, the blood supply to the foot was compromised. Open reduction and internal fixation resulted in a satisfactory outcome in each case.

Adolescent-type Tillaux fracture of the ankle: two case reports.
Fracture of the lateral portion of the distal end of the tibia in adults is known as the fracture of Tillaux (Tillaux, 1872). The fracture line extends vertically from the distal articular surface of the tibia upwards to the lateral cortex. The fragment is roughly quadrangular in shape. The analogous epiphyseal injury is less common and two such cases are presented here, both were fixed interna...

Background: To compare the union times of the uncomplicated tibial shaft fractures, which were distally locked by twocoronal and one sagittal screws and by only two coronal screws. Methods: 45 patients with tibial shaft treated with intramedullary nailing included in this study. 23 of 45 fractureswere treated with uniplanar two distal interlocking (Group 1) and 22 fractures were treated with bip...
متن کاملOsteochondritis of the Distal Tibial Epiphysis
Osteochondritis of the distal tibial epiphysis is a very rare entity. 9 cases have been described in 7 articles and 8 other cases have been mentioned in textbooks. This paper describes the 10th case of osteochondritis of the distal tibial epiphysis and summarizes the clinical and radiological presentations of the 9 other cases. The etiology of this entity is well debated in the literature. We b...
متن کاملSpontaneous resolution of an osseous bridge affecting the distal tibial epiphysis.
The risk of developing an osseous bridge after certain types of epiphyseal injury is well established. Once formed subsequent growth will usually result in a progressive deformity. We present an unusual case in which such an osseous bridge formed and a deformity developed. The bridge then resolved spontaneously and the joint returned to normal alignment. Case report. A five-year-old girl injure...
متن کاملChanges in microarchitectural characteristics at the tibial epiphysis induced by collagen-induced rheumatoid arthritis over time
BACKGROUND Little is known about the time course of changes in the microarchitecture of the tibial epiphysis with rheumatoid arthritis (RA), although such information would be valuable in predicting risk of fracture. Therefore, we used in vivo microcomputed tomography (μ-CT) to assess patterns of microarchitectural alterations in the tibial epiphysis using collagen-induced RA in an animal model...
